Gabriel and I really like granola in our vanilla yogurt, but it is expensive to buy, but so easy to make that I have started making it. So hear is the recipe that I used....



Granola

1 1/2 cups brown sugar( could also replace half of the sugar with honey)
1/2 cup water
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. salt
8 cups rolled oats
2 cups chopped nuts(pecans, walnuts and slivered almonds)
You could also add dried cranberries, raisins or any other fruit you would like.

Combine brown sugar and water and cook on stove till sugar is desolved then add the vanilla and salt. Combine the dry ingredients and then pour the went ingredients over. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 45 mins to 1 hour stirring occasionally until golden and crunchy. Store cooled granola in an airtight container.

New Sewing Area....

In one of the rooms in the basement we have a nice work bench, which goes a long one wall. Well for so long it has been cluttered with so much stuff that we have never been able to use it the way we should. So after buying some new shelving units we now have enough space to stack stuff without having to stack it on the work bench.

I then gave the work bench a nice new coat of paint and one end of the work bench is lower so I am able to use it as a sewing table or scrapbooking nook. I am hoping now I will be able to work on a few projects that I would like to do like make some throw pillow covers, make Anna a few summer dresses and start Gabriel's scrapbook and hopefully be able to check up, so Noah's scrapbook is done by the time he is one. I know it wishful thinking.

I still have some organizing to do and containers to put away, but soon it will be nice and organized.

It has been a while since I last posted. We were home visiting with family and friends in Iowa for about 6 days. We then got home this last Tuesday just in time to get sick. It sure is not fun when we are both sick and have three kids to take care of. I will hopefully be able to post some pictures sometime in the next few days when I am feeling better.

Noah Ray is now 7 weeks old...
It is hard to believe how the time flies. The honeymoon weeks are over where they sleep all the time. I now have days when he takes some good long naps, which helps me to be able to get some laundry, dishes, and house cleaning done. Then there are the days like yesterday where I had so much that needed to be done, but I didn't get anything done. Oh well I will have those days and I just have to ask the Lord for patience.

*wearing pretty dresses & tights everyday

What has Gabe been up to.....
*giving us cheesy grins

*playing with mom & dad's coffee cups or anything else that has a lid that can be taken on and off

*holding Noah or giving him kisses on his head

*trying to be a good boy and eat my meals

*enjoying my brothers swing

*trying to water my mom's plants with my snow boots on

* building tall block towers and watching them fall over

* and anything else that I can get my hands on that I am not suppose to.......but that's what boys do?????
